Finding and buying your photos
What is Fotop and how does it work?
Fotop is the platform that hosts all the photos and videos from the events and training sessions I cover. There you find your images without depending on me to send file by file: just open the event gallery, search by your face or bib number, pick the photos you liked and buy them right on the site — with Pix or card. The download is available right away, and the link also arrives in your email.
How do I find my photos?
Today the search works mainly through facial recognition: you take a selfie (or upload a photo of yourself) and the system finds the images you appear in on its own. At some events you can also search by bib number, and the gallery itself shows which option is available.
A tip to make it easier: use a photo with your face clearly visible, ideally without sunglasses or a cap covering too much.
What's the step by step to buy on the platform?
It's pretty quick:
- Open the gallery and find your photos (by selfie or bib number).
- Choose the photos and videos you liked most.
- Select the resolution and build your order.
- Pay with Pix or card, whatever works best for you.
- Download right away. The link also goes to your email and stays saved in your account.
How long after the event are the photos available?
Most of the time the photos are ready the same day, sometimes within a few hours. For bigger events it can take a little longer.
Generally, on weekdays the gallery usually goes live around noon, and on weekends around 2 p.m.
As soon as the gallery goes live I always announce it on my stories, so it's worth keeping an eye out. And if any doubt comes up, just message me on direct or WhatsApp.
I didn't find any photo of me. What can I do?
Don't worry, there's almost always a solution. First of all, try this:
- Check that you opened the right edition and distance (it's the most common mistake).
- Type the bib number without the dash (e.g., 123-1 becomes 1231).
- Redo the facial search with another selfie, with your face nice and sharp.
- Also look through the unidentified photos, one by one.
If it still doesn't work, send me a message on direct or WhatsApp with the event name, the distance and a photo of you — I'll search manually for you.
What format and resolution do I get the purchased photos in?
You can relax. The photos come in high-quality JPG with no watermark after purchase — the watermark only appears in the preview. After purchase, it's removed automatically.
When buying you choose the resolution, from a smaller version to post on social media up to the largest one to print and turn into a poster. And when the event has video, it also comes ready for you to post.
Prices, discounts and partnerships
How much does each photo or video cost?
Here are the reference prices:
- Digital photo in high resolution: R$ 15.90
- Digital photo in low resolution: R$ 9.90
- Video for download: R$ 28.90
The price can vary a bit depending on the resolution and the event, but that's the baseline to help you plan.
How does the progressive discount work?
The more photos you take, the cheaper each one gets:
- From 4 photos: 21% off
- From 7 photos: 30%
- From 10 photos: 45%
- From 15 photos: 60%
Putting together a package is well worth more than buying single photos. It pays to be generous with your selection.
The discount can vary a bit depending on the resolution and the event, but these are the reference values to help you plan.
Do you offer discount coupons?
I do. I drop coupons on my stories every now and then, so keep an eye out there so you don't miss them.
And here's a detail: if you tag me in your stories showing your photos, I'll send you an even bigger coupon on direct or WhatsApp. It's my way of thanking everyone who shares and gives the work a boost.
Can I use the photos commercially?
Buying on the platform already gives you the right to use the photos personally (your social media, keepsakes, printing for yourself). The copyright stays with me, as the photographer.
If the idea is for a brand, agency or sponsor to use the image to promote themselves, we just need to arrange a separate commercial use authorization. Just message me on direct or WhatsApp and I'll sort it out with you, no worries.
Privacy and security
Are my photos visible to anyone?
I understand the concern, and it's worth explaining exactly how it works. Each event's gallery is an album accessible to whoever has the link, and facial recognition is just a shortcut to help you find your face in there faster. In other words, it doesn't show anything beyond what's already in that event's gallery. Anyone could scroll through the album by hand and see the same photos.
About someone using a photo of you to run the search: the system does compare faces, so in theory it would be possible to filter the images you appear in at that event. But there are two things that make this much more reassuring:
- The photo used in the search doesn't become a record of your face. Under Fotop's policy, that image is used only to locate the photos at that moment and is then discarded. They don't store your facial biometrics; the system works with an irreversible code, not with your photo itself.
- What appears in the gallery is just the preview, watermarked and in a smaller size. To get the clean, high-res photo, you have to buy it.
And if even so you'd rather your photos not be found, you can request their removal at any time.
How long do the photos stay in the system?
Under Fotop's policy, the photos stay available for up to 2 years, and after that period they may leave the system. In practice, it's common to find galleries from the previous year still online.
Even so, the tip is to secure yours as soon as possible, because this period can vary from one event to another.
I found a photo I don't want exposed. How do I remove it?
Don't worry, Fotop itself has the "Remove my photo from searches" option on the site, where you make the request providing your details. The system will ask you for:
- An identification selfie: in a well-lit setting, without glasses, hat or mask.
- Your athlete number at the event: so the system can also locate you by bib number.
The removal applies to events held up to the date of the request. If you prefer, you can message me directly on direct or WhatsApp and I'll help you take it out of the gallery.
Other projects and hiring
Are the photos on your Unsplash free to use?
They're genuinely free, use them as you like. The photos I publish on Unsplash are under Unsplash's own license, which lets you download and use them for free — for both personal and commercial projects, without needing to ask permission.
Use them however makes sense to you, even without crediting me if you don't want to (but a credit is always welcome). The only restriction is not to resell the photos unchanged or build a similar stock library with them.
What other types of work do you do?
I do quite a lot beyond training sessions and street races:
- Individual athlete sessions (sports portraits)
- Photos for running groups and teams
- Commercial content for brands and sponsors
- Sporting events
- Outdoor sessions and portfolios
- Weddings (as a second photographer)
If you have a project in mind, come talk to me on direct or WhatsApp and I'll put together a custom quote.
